University Dissertation & Thesis Services (UDTS), the Division of Instructional Technology (DoIT), and Mason University Libraries are pleased to announce that we have scheduled some more workshops for Fall 2012.
Please note that you can sign up for one or more sessions--whatever benefits you the most.
First, we have scheduled some more Two-Part Workshops, which will take place on the following dates:

New Graduate Fellowships Website
The Office of the Provost at George Mason University is pleased to announce the launch of the newly created web site of the Office of Graduate Fellowships: http://gradfellows.gmu.edu
This web site provides information on extramural fellowship, scholarship, and grant opportunities to support graduate-level research, study, training, and professional development. It is designed as a resource for Mason graduate students and the faculty and staff who mentor and support them.
In addition to web-based resources, the Office of Graduate Fellowships holds information sessions and workshops on fellowship opportunities and provides advising, coaching, and editorial support for Mason graduate students who are in the process of searching and applying for external funding.

Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Teaching Assistant for Research Methods
The Center for International Student Access is looking for one full-time or two part-time teaching assistant(s) for assisting with lecture and teaching recitation sections of the course PROV 106 – Introduction to Research Methods for International Students. This course is designed for international and immigrant students in the ACCESS program.
Each section will have approximately 20 students, all of whom are multilingual speakers of English. The position’s duties include teaching, grading, one-on-one student consultations, and lecturing responsibilities on occasion. Students with 9-12 research methods courses in their graduate courses of study are encouraged to apply.
The position officially starts January 10, 2013, lasts for one semester, and pays at the university standard assistantship salary based on educational background, for 20 hours weekly with 6 credit tuition waiver (at the in-state tuition rate) for a full-time position or 10 hours weekly with 3 credit tuition waiver for a part-time position. This position is not eligible for health insurance benefits. Six hours of TA training will be offered in November 2012. Teaching experience strongly preferred. Doctoral students will receive primary consideration.
Students majoring in Science and Engineering are not eligible for consideration.

American Association of University Women (AAUW) American Fellowships

American Fellowships support women doctoral candidates completing dissertations or scholars seeking funds for postdoctoral research leave from accredited institutions. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of scholarly excellence; the quality and originality of project design; and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in their communities, professions, or fields of research.
Dissertation Fellowships are available to women who will complete their dissertation writing between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014. Applicants must have completed all course work, passed all preliminary examinations, and received approval for their research proposals or plans by November 15, 2012. Students holding fellowships for writing a dissertation in the year prior to the AAUW fellowship year are not eligible. Open to applicants in all fields of study. Scholars engaged in science, technology, engineering, and math and researching gender issues are especially encouraged to apply.

Gil Brown, a May 2012 graduate of the MAIS in Higher Education Administration program, contributed a chapter on financial aid to the AACRAO book "Strategic

Gil is Assistant Vice President and Chief Budget Officer for the Office of Budget and Planning at Mason.
Sharon Pitt (PhD in Education, with a specialization in higher education) will be presenting at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference in early November. EDUCAUSE helps those who lead, manage, and use information technology to shape strategic IT decisions at every level within higher education. EDUCAUSE membership is comprised of institutional, corporate and association members. Over 1,800 colleges and universities and 300 corporations are members of EDUCAUSE.
Sharon will give two presentations at this year's conference:
